Step 1: Go to nhd.weebly.com. Do not go to the standard weebly site.
Step 2: Set up an account. Create an account for each entry to be entered into competition and establish a username and password for that account. Group entries should create just one account. A teacher may use the same email address for multiple entries. This means that password recovery for all entries will go through that email address.

WeeblyParticipants should find the tools available to be powerful and intuitive. Students will have full range of access to site‐building features. These tools were designed to make web site construction easy while still being able to meet more advanced user needs. Nothing will be perfect, and some advanced users may find themselves limited at times. Still, those users are able to do a great deal with the advanced editing tools and custom HTML features. Some of the concerns from those advanced users can be addressed with the help of the Weebly team, so do not hesitate to contact the NHD national office in such instances.

Website IDWhen web site entry accounts are set up at the NHD Web Portal (nhd.weebly.com), a unique URL is assigned to each web site. The URL will be formatted as such:
http://17427217.nhd.weebly.com. The bold part of the URL is the unique 8-digit ID for the web site entry. Students and teachers should be sure to note this 8-digit ID because they will need to fill out this information when registering for the NHD contests. The web site entries must be published before the registration deadline of the contest. |
Components: Design and Content
Glitz in design is not as important as the content included in your website. Historical quality is the most important.
Below is some advice from Dr. Michael Kopish of Plymouth State University for better presenting a website:
1. The design and colors of background and fonts do not detract from the content, and are consistent across pages.
2. The Introduction clearly identifies and summarizes main issues, presents thesis, and successfully explains questions and the purpose of the website.
3. Links for navigation are clearly labeled, consistently placed, allow the reader to easily move from a page to related pages (forward and back), and take the reader where s/he expects to go. A user does not become lost.
4. All links point to high quality, up-to-date, credible sites in the bibliography, and all the links work.
5. The content is written clearly and concisely and points readers to high quality, up to date, pertinent resources. The content is highly informative and provides essential information to the reader. Information is updated frequently and includes the date of the update to emphasize freshness of content.
6. All audio/visual/graphics relate to the theme and topic and are thoughtfully included to enhance the readers interest or understanding.
